Car bootys have only recently become a regular feature in my life during the past few months. The idea of "one persons trash is another's treasure" definitely applies to all the hustlers and hagglers amongst the busy rows of jumble stalls. With prices 3x better than an average thrift/charity shop these days, how can anybody say no to Topshop garments for just a couple of quid?
They have gowns for pounds didn't you know?
It does remind me of the olden day markets down the alleys of London,
the scent of different foods and incense sticks wafting through the
crowds. An early morning wake full of hustle and bustle in the crisp
winter air. I even found a car-boot on a road called "beggars lane"
which makes it sound and feel notorious for the hundreds of years people
have laid down tarpaulin and tables, selling their unwanted trinkets
and toys to passersby for pence and pennies.
Cheddar Carboot unlike most other weekly sales have a large indoor
building meaning whatever the weather, they're always open and full of
goodies to gawp at. They have a range of vintage stalls that remain
there throughout the year, but with every visit I always spot something
new, quirky or of course; something that sparkles.
There are loads of unknown carboot sales, and I was unaware quite how
many were around my location. Most on a Saturday or Sunday morning but
some do have afternoon starts which for the bargain enthusiasts does
mean you can hit two sales in one day. Hey, why not make it four sales
in a weekend? Although most do only run during the summer season, there
are a few indoor sales that run all year round. You can look online to
find your nearest one and don't forget to share what treasures you find
with me!
